William J. ‘Pete’ Knight High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC); Unit # CA-20053 was established June 2005. Knight High School’s cadet corps is 140 members strong and continually growing. School year 2012-2013 top student leadership positions are Group Commander Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Randall McDermott and Group Deputy Commander Cadet Major Nicolas Medina. Knight High School’s cadet corps operates through student leadership under the advisement of instructors Lieutenant Colonel Richard E. Werling and Master Sergeant Lori A. Short who oversee the program. Knight’s cadet corps focuses on teamwork, problem solving, community service, critical thinking, academic achievement, effective communication, and group activities. Knight High School’s cadet corps fully encompasses AFJROTC mission to ‘build better citizens for America’ and instills Air Force core values integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do.
